Beauty: facial sunblocks modern

Beauty: modern facial sunblocksModern facial sunblocks, ' just buy one and wear it. ' Director of photography: Rui Faria for the Guardian

I have worn a different sunblock on my face every day for the last five weeks, so it's not necessary. The last time I did this two years ago, my skin was well protected, unfreckled, unburned and looking like shit – oily, spotty, pungent, often peeling with small balls of product like sunscreen reacted against my makeup. (Beauty Brands, please deal with this. Makes me want to stick my bathroom cabinet with a wreching bar.) There is little wonder that virtually no one I know to bother with facial sunblock, however much I scream at them and free throw suncare their way.

More than a month on trial, however, I can tell you with all sincerity sunblocks have changed considerably, it is time you got involved. In 2013 are thinner, smoother, sweeter and more like a skincare treat unpleasant medicine. Broad-spectrum sunscreens (protection against UVA and UVB rays) stop looking like an idiot overcooked Brit abroad and help protect against the deadly skin cancer. Apologies for not wearing one is lame, antiquated and the beauty equivalent of some pillock refusing to wear a condom, because it "does not feel the same." Just now. I already did the hard work. You just buy one and wear it. These six are brilliant.
