What I see in the mirror: Sandie Shaw

When I look in the mirror, my husband pushes me out of the way, so the first look that I catch myself tends to be at least an hour after I've got up. When you finally see it myself, I don't think anything mainly because I'm so used to what I see. I've seen everywhere my whole life, on billboards and magazine covers, and is not something that much more attention. I could put on my makeup in the dark.

How I would describe my face? Has two eyes, a nose, a mouth. I don't care about my appearance unless I'm working and then someone else is paid by it but by 60 's my face grew up in itself. It is contained, laugh a lot and would rather watch other people than themselves. It's more relaxed, and I'm lucky that I don't need to do much to make me look presentable.

Actually pay more attention to my feet in my face. Before I had surgery when I was 60, to repair the damage caused by squeezing into shoes that were too small for me when I was younger, my feet were the ugliest part of my body. I couldn't stand them. But now I'm fine.

I'm 66 now and I just can't see the point of plastic surgery. I know that many people my age who have had something done, but I'm not an actress who turned up for the movie, so don't think about it. I would rather focus on my feet.

‧ Long Live Love: the very best of Sandie Shaw is now out.
