These are the three things that might smudge our eyeliner in this coming month – I'm hoping for sweat, for the overwhelming heat of a sudden sharp summer, but today I'm resigned to spitting rain, the kind that doesn't even have enough heart to soak you, simply to blacken your eyelids on your way to work. This year, summer's waterproof eyeliners will be multipurpose, so you'd better choose a good one. Illamasqua's Precision Ink (￡18, illamasqua.com) is the blackest, best inky one I've found, with a long, perfect nib, but I also like Clarins's Waterproof Pencil (￡17, clarins.co.uk), which is pleasingly hard to smudge, and the waterproof version of Rimmel's classic Exaggerate Eye Liner (￡5.29, asos.com), all of which will weather the sweatiest storm.
